Welcome to the newest blog segment, Let Me Put You On! I'll be giving you my favorite media (and whatever else I feel). I figured it would be a fun way to suggest new media for you to consume. The first I'll put you on are my favorite podcasts. I've been obsessed with podcasts, recently. They are great when I'm bored at work or tired of listening to music. I hope you find your new favorite podcast!
It's A Lot With Abbie Chattfield
Hands down, my favorite podcast has to be It's A Lot. Australian personality, Abbie Chattfield, talks about everything from sex and relationships to activism and politics. Her content is as hilarious as it is thought-provoking. Abbie is a raging ray of sunshine and I absolutely adore her. If you need a safe space, advice, or just a laugh, this is the podcast for you! Shout out to Abbie and her amazing producers! I'm a fan for life!
Upstairs Neighbors
I wish on every eyelash that Upstairs Neighbors starts to release episodes more than once a week. Hosts Dom and Maya are truly the best of friends and my favorite duo. Every Wednesday, they give their raw unfiltered opinions on all things pop culture and occasionally a look into their own lives. They are so funny and relatable. I can't lie, these girls make my day.
Pod Save America
Now, I will preface by saying this is a completely leftist podcast. By no means is it an unbiased news source. However, it has to be my favorite political news podcast. Former Obama aides Jon Faveru, Jon Levitt, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor provide an overview of the most pressing news stories sprinkled with their own perspectives and a bit of humor. It doesn't feel like a news podcast a lot of the time, just a conversation. And every podcast includes an interview with guests like Representative Sarah McBride and author, Michael Lewis. Pod Save America provides the perfect insight into our current political climate, and well, it might just save America.
Long Winded With Gabby Windey
I've been obsessed with Gabby since she was on The Bachelor (big fuck you to Clayton for STILL trying to use her to stay relevant). She's always been my favorite, but now that she is for the girls, I love her even more. I could listen to her and her signature vocal fry all day long. And I love when people talk about what's pissing them off lately. Literally, my thoughts put on the internet. Please go show Mother some love and listen to her podcast!
The Gist of It
Calling all sports fans! I'm already a big fan of The Gist, a media company focusing on bringing equal coverage of men's and women's sports. They cover everything from basketball and hockey to tennis and F1. This podcast is no exception. Hosts Ellen Hyslop and Stephanie Rotz cover the biggest stories in sports and give their perspectives as former collegiate athletes. They discuss how sports relates to a number of topics including pop culture and social issues. It's a fairly new podcast, but I'm excited to listen more and watch it grow!
The Comment Section With Drew Afualo
I've loved Drew since she began to clap back at small-minded men on Tik Tok. I have always appreciated her authenticity and humor. The Comment Section only strengthens this sentiment. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of interviews, but this podcast is the exception. Drew picks incredible guests from comic, Caleb Heron, to the band MUNA, and so many more. She asks both thoughtful and hilarious questions and truly holds space for her guests' real thoughts and opinions. It's refreshing to listen to such a safe space.
